[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police Investigating An Accident with Serious Injuries

The pedestrian involved in the serious motor vehicle accident last night has died of the injuries he received during the crash. The man has been identified as 50-year-old Jeffrey Eley of the 5100 block of E. VA Beach Blvd. The preliminary investigation reveals that the SUV was traveling westbound in the 2300 block of E. Princess Anne Road, when the man walked into the traffic lane. No charges have been filed as a result of this incident, as the case will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review.

Previous Release:
Shortly before 8:30 this evening, Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving a pedestrian in the 2300 block of E. Princess Anne Road. Preliminary investigation reveals a 50-year-old man walked into the traffic lane and was struck by an SUV. The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries. There were no obvious signs of impairment of the driver, who stayed on the scene. At this time, the Fatality team is handling the investigation, which is on-going.
