[ARCHIVED] One in Custody After a Vehicle Crash on Interstate

Norfolk Police responded to a report of a possible vandalism to the Artist Box Studio located at 7821 N. Military Highway, shortly after 4:30 this morning. As police units were responding they observed a possible suspect vehicle leaving the area of the crime, and attempted a traffic stop. However, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, and entered Interstate 64 eastbound. The officer terminated the pursuit by turning off the lights and sirens due to the high rate of speed of the suspect vehicle.

As the officer was exiting the Northampton Blvd eastbound off-ramp, they observed the suspect vehicle had crashed into the guardrail, and four suspects running. One adult man was detained at the scene. After a brief search of the area, three other suspects were located and detained, two women and one man. Charges are pending on all of the suspects. Norfolk Police, along with the assistance of Virginia State Police and Virginia Beach Police, have closed eastbound I64 Northampton Blvd exit at this time. There were no injuries reported during the crash. The investigating is ongoing.
