[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police Investigating Auto Pedestrian Accident

Update Release: 12/12/2014 4:15 pm.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the 31 year-old man was in the northbound traffic lane attempting to retrieve an item that fell from a vehicle, when a Dodge Challenger struck the man in the roadway. His injuries remain serious.

Currently all traffic lanes are open.

There have been no charges issued, as it is still under investigation.

Previous Release: Norfolk Traffic Officers are currently investigating a motor vehicle accident with injuries involving a pedestrian.

Shortly before noon today, police were called to the 7600 block of Shore Drive for a 31 year-old man that was struck by a car. The pedestrian was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appears to be, at this time, serious injuries.

The vehicle and driver involved in the crash remained at the scene. Traffic Units are currently investigating this crash.

Both North and South bound Shore Drive are currently closed to traffic.
