Norfolk Detectives are continuing the investigation into the officer involved shooting that took place on 3/16/2015.
Shortly before 9:30 P.M., 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call of a person with a weapon in the 2500 block of Leo Street. Upon arrival, officers located and confronted a man with a handgun. As a result, shots were fired.
22-year-old Dominique Chapman has been arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, and altering a serial number or other identification on a firearm. At this time, Mr. Chapman remains hospitalized and in police custody.
The officer involved has been placed on administrative duty pending completion and review of the investigation. The officer has been a member of the Norfolk Police Department since 2012.
There is no Body Worn Camera footage available for this incident.
The Investigation continues and we are not releasing any other information at this time.

Shortly before 9:30 P.M., 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call of a person with a weapon in the 2500 block of Leo Street.
Upon arrival, officers located and confronted a man with a handgun.
As a result, shots were fired. Officers immediately rendered first aid to the injured man who was subsequently transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A gun was recovered at the scene of the incident.
Norfolk Detectives are actively investigating this incident and no other information is available at this time.
