[ARCHIVED] Arrest Made In Vernon Drive Homicide

Early this morning, shortly after 12:30 A.M., 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call for a gunshot victim in the 1600 block of Vernon Drive.

Upon arrival, police located 39-year-old Johnny Williams suffering from a gunshot wound. Mr. Williams was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died.

Norfolk Detectives classified Mr. Williams' death as a Homicide.

Shortly after 2:00 P.M. today, the Norfolk Police Fugitive Squad along with the U.S. Marshals Task Force located and arrested 29-year-old Jermaine Rogers of the 5500 block of Campus Drive in Virginia Beach for the murder of Johnny Williams.

Rogers was arrested in the 900 block of Randolph Street in Portsmouth without incident.

Rogers is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Attempted Malicious Wounding, and 2 counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
