[ARCHIVED] Shooting Leaves Man Dead, Woman Injured

(Update, 05/04/2015) Norfolk Police Detectives are seeking assistance from the community to Stand UP and Speak UP, in regards to the death of 32-year-old Shankia D. Anderson of the 800 block of Golf Street.

Mr. Anderson was killed on May 3, 2015 shortly after 4:00 am in the 7000 block of Mamie Boulevard during a party. After the shooting, a large crowd was seen running from the party, where the shooting occurred. Detectives are urging the community to Stand UP against violence, and Speak UP about who killed Mr. Anderson.

(Previous Release 05/03/2015)At this time, there is no suspect information available for release and Norfolk Police Detectives are actively investigating this incident. Police are encouraging anyone who was attending the party, witnessed the shooting, or knows anything about this homicide to call the Norfolk Crime line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

During the shooting a woman was also struck by gunfire and is listed at this time in stable condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.


On May 3, 2015 shortly after 4:00 am, Norfolk Police and Fire Rescue responded to the 7000 block of Mamie Boulevard for a possible gunshot victim. Upon arrival, police located a man and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The woman was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what appear to be serious injuries. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identification will not be released until his next of kin are properly notified.

There is no suspect information available for release at this time and Norfolk Police Detectives are actively investigating this incident. Police are encouraging anyone with any information about this crime to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
