Shortly before 3:30 this afternoon police responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries, involving a Norfolk Fire-Rescue Utility Truck and a Dodge Stratus, at the intersection of East Brambleton Avenue and Landing Street.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the Norfolk Fire-Rescue Utility Truck was traveling East on East Brambleton Avenue, when the Dodge Status pulled out from Landing Street in front of the truck.
The 73-year-old woman driving the Dodge was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
The man, a Norfolk Fire-Rescue personnel, driving the Norfolk Fire-Rescue Utility Truck sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported.
The woman’s identity will not be released until a proper Next-of-Kin notification is made.
Norfolk Traffic Fatality Team is currently on scene investigating this deadly crash and there is no further information available for release at this time.
