[ARCHIVED] Police searching for leads in morning homicide

Updated Release 7/15/15 4:55 pm:
Norfolk Police have positively identified a suspect in this morning’s homicide incident in the 900 block of Holt Street. 21-year-old Lewis McMiller has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. McMiller is currently a fugitive and should be considered armed and dangerous. As a Norfolk resident, he is known to frequent the 1200 block of Bunsen Court. Anyone with any information about McMiller’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Norfolk Homicide Unit at 757-664-7023 or the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. 21-year-old Michael Clemons, Jr. of the 3000 block of Grandy Avenue has been identified as this morning's homicide victim in the 900 block of Holt Street. Police have not released any suspect information and continue to search for investigative leads. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Norfolk Police Homicide Unit at 757-664-7023 or the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.


Previous Release 7/15/15 2:40 am:
On July 15, 2015, shortly after 1:45 a.m., Norfolk 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call concerning a person with a possible gunshot wound in the 900 block of Holt Street. Police and Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The Norfolk Police Detective Division is now working this active homicide investigation. The man's identity will not be released until his next of kin are properly notified.

Police have not released any suspect description and encourage anyone with any information about this crime to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
