Early Sunday morning, Norfolk Police Detectives arrested 19-year-old Donte M. Chesson after claims he stabbed a man in the 800 block of W. 48th Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. when Norfolk Dispatchers were notified about the stabbing victim. Old Dominion University Police Officers were provided the suspect description and detained Chesson less than a block from where the stabbing initially took place.

The preliminary investigation revealed Chesson was told by residents to leave the premise. Chesson initially left the area, but came back to the house and gained entry. After entering the home, Chesson approached two men and assaulted them, incidentally stabbing one man several times. Chesson then ran from the scene, but was apprehended by police while attempting to leave the area.

Norfolk Police Detectives have charged Chesson with the following:
• 1 count of breaking and entering to commit a felony
• 1 count of brandishing a firearm
• 2 counts of malicious wounding
• 3 counts of conspiracy to commit a felony

Chesson is currently being held without bond at the Norfolk City Jail.
