A motorcyclist is recovering in the hospital after a vehicle ran him off the roadway last night in Norfolk, then fled the scene.

On 9/21/2015 around 7:15 pm, police were called to the 4200 block of Granby Street for a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Once police arrived, they found a 45-year-old motorcyclist lying on the ground unconscious.

Paramedics transported him to Sentara Norfolk General with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Granby Street when a black older model Mercedes SUV M-Class, merged into his lane.

The Mercedes did not make contact with the motorcycle, however this caused the motorcycle rider to run off the roadway, and hit a pole.

The Mercedes did not stop.

Police are asking anyone with information about this crash, or any information on the Mercedes that fled the scene, to call the Norfolk Crime Line at either:
