[ARCHIVED] VBPD K9 nabs suspect and helps solve Norfolk case

Updated Release 10/2/2015:

In a combined effort between the Norfolk Police Department and the Virginia Beach Police Department, two men remain behind bars after committing local robberies.

Norfolk’s most recent incident involving the two suspects occurred on September 30, 2015 at the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 909 E. Ocean View Avenue. Shortly after 3:00 a.m., the men entered the store and demanded undisclosed items from the clerk. One suspect brandished a handgun while threatening the clerk, and both men then fled from the scene prior to police arrival.

As provided in an earlier release by the Virginia Beach Police Department, the men attempted another robbery in the City of Virginia Beach shortly after leaving Norfolk’s Ocean View area. One suspect was caught by a Virginia Beach Police K9 and taken into custody. The man was identified as 26-year-old Michael Zeigler.

Detectives from both jurisdictions began working in partnership and the second suspect was quickly identified as 24-year-old Arthur Santiful.

Norfolk police immediately charged Santiful and Zeigler with one count of robbery in relation to the incident that occurred on September 30, 2015 at 909 E. Ocean View Avenue.

Santiful was located and taken into custody for the outstanding felony warrant in Norfolk and remains at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Detectives continue to pursue the ongoing criminal investigation and are looking into the possibility of other related incidents.
