[ARCHIVED] Reminder: CALEA Forum Tonight at 6 pm

The Norfolk Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of a program to obtain its first accreditation status by verifying that it meets professional standards. Administered by the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a Public Information Session on October 13, 2015. The session will be conducted at the Third Patrol Division Community Room, located at 901 Asbury Avenue in Norfolk. The Public Information Session is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

Email comments may also be sent using the address of “calea@norfolk.gov”. All emails will be forwarded directly to the on-site assessors for review.

Also members of the community, and agency employees are invited to offer comments regarding the Norfolk Police Department by calling 757-664-3277 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, October 14, 2015.
