[ARCHIVED] Another shooting in Norfolk injuries two more ODU students

Norfolk, VA – A second shooting in Norfolk near the Old Dominion University campus has sent two more ODU students to the hospital.

The shooting happened just after 1:00 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 40th Street.

When police arrived they found two men, ages 19 and 22, suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

First responders took the men to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where they are expected to recover.

According to witnesses, an argument broke out between several people at a party. During the argument a man began firing a gun.

At this time, detectives do not believe that this shooting is related to first shooting on Killam Avenue which killed a man, and sent two other ODU students to the hospital.

Over the weekend, both NPD and ODU have increased patrols in and around the campus. “We want students to enjoy their homecoming weekend without fear of being hurt. If anyone sees something that does not feel right, trust that instinct, leave the area, and give police a call right away,” said a Norfolk Police patrol officer.
