[ARCHIVED] Afternoon shooting in Lindewood sends a man to the hospital with multiple gunshots

Norfolk, VA - A shooting this afternoon at Middle Avenue and Hayes Street has police going door-to-door looking for information.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. today, police responded to the intersection of Middle Avenue and Hayes Street for a shooting in progress.

Police found a 21-year-old man inside a home in the 2500 block of Middle Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses tell police that the man was shot in the intersection, however was able to make it to the residence before police arrived.

Paramedics rushed the man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries. He is currently in the operating room undergoing surgery.
