Norfolk Police have identified the man killed during a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday in the 2800 block of Cromwell Drive.
The preliminary investigation has revealed 79-year-old Billy Lewis Gillion, of the 3500 block of Argonne Avenue, succumbed to his injuries after being struck by a vehicle during the early-evening hours on November 17, 2015. Witness reports indicated Mr. Gillion walked into the roadway and was incidentally struck by oncoming traffic. He was quickly transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
No charges have been filed against the involved driver.

The Norfolk Police Traffic Fatality Team continues to investigate the circumstances behind a motor vehicle accident that left a man dead early this evening.
Shortly after 6:00 p.m., Norfolk dispatchers received notification of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. When first responders arrived to the scene they witnessed a man lying in the 2800 block of Cromwell Drive. The man was unconscious with apparent injuries and medics immediately transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The vehicle and driver involved in the accident remained at the scene.
Police have closed the 2800-3300 blocks of Cromwell Drive while they continue to investigate the cause of the accident. The roadway is expected to remain closed throughout the evening hours and motorists are requested to avoid the area.
The deceased victim's identity will not be released until next of kin have been properly notified.
No charges have been secured in relation to this incident and the investigation remains ongoing.
