[ARCHIVED] Weekend shooting now active homicide case

On December 19, 2015, Norfolk police responded to the 1700 block of Berkley Avenue Extended shortly before 10:45 p.m. for an unresponsive person. When police and fire-rescue arrived to the scene, they discovered a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim, 54-year-old Marvin Jones of Norfolk, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Norfolk detectives are now working this incident as an active homicide investigation. This is Norfolk’s 32nd homicide in 2015.

Family members have described Mr. Jones as a beloved member of his community and church, and no motive for Mr. Jones’ death has been released.
