[ARCHIVED] Double shooting leaves one dead

NORFOLK, Va. - A double shooting in Norfolk has left one man dead and another wounded.

Norfolk dispatchers received a call for shots being fired in the 3800 block of South Cape Henry Avenue shortly after 7:30 p.m. Christmas evening. Responding officers located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and medics immediately transported the victim to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The man was pronounced dead after arrival.

Shortly thereafter, another gunshot victim was located in the 2300 block of Fairbanks Avenue. The man was also transported by medics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates both victims were likely shot during the same incident, which took place in the 2300 block of Fairbanks Avenue.

The deceased victim's identity will not be released until his family has been properly notified.
