NORFOLK, Va. - Detectives have positively identified and charged the man they say is responsible for a deadly Christmas Day shooting in Norfolk.
On December 25, 2015, Norfolk police responded to a double shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of Fairbanks Avenue. The shooting left 28-year-old Johnason M. Smith of Norfolk dead and another man injured.
Police arrested and charged Brian Ethan Hall, a 23-year-old Norfolk man that lived in the 2300 block of Palmetto Street, for Mr. Smith's murder. Detectives secured warrants against Hall for the following:
-2nd Degree Murder
-Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (two counts)
Hall, as shown in the attached photograph, is currently being held without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.

NORFOLK, Va. - A double shooting in Norfolk has left one man dead and another wounded.
Norfolk dispatchers received a call for shots being fired in the 3800 block of South Cape Henry Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m. Christmas evening. Responding officers located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and medics immediately transported the victim to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The man was pronounced dead after arrival.
Shortly thereafter, another gunshot victim was located in the 2300 block of Fairbanks Avenue. The man was also transported by medics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation indicates both victims were likely shot during the same incident, which took place in the 2300 block of Fairbanks Avenue.
The deceased victim's identity will not be released until his family has been properly notified.
