[ARCHIVED] Police identify body pulled from Lafayette River

Norfolk, Va. - Norfolk police have confirmed that the body recovered yesterday in the waterway under the Lafayette Bridge as David Isaac, 25, of the 200 block of Glendale Avenue.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m., Friday evening, dispatchers received a call for service from a concerned citizen. The citizen reported seeing a body partially submerged in the Lafayette River.

Police and Fire-Rescue responded to the scene, near the intersection of E. 26th Street and Villa Circle.

Isaac’s body was located and immediately pulled from the water.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Norfolk Police Detective Division has classified this incident as an undetermined death investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.

No other information is available for release at this time.
