[ARCHIVED] Man in custody following a shooting Saturday morning

NORFOLK, Va. – A man is in police custody following a shooting in Norfolk that left a woman seriously injured.

Police received a call at 9:08 Saturday morning for a woman who had been shot in the 7900 block of Westcliff Drive.

The woman was found outside the residence, on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics rushed her to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.

A man was detained inside the residence without incident. Charges are pending.

Police also located three small children near the scene, all unharmed.

The relationship between the man and woman has not been determined at this time, or a possible motive for the shooting.
