[ARCHIVED] Police identify the man fatally shot on Fremont Street

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk police have identified the man shot to death on Thursday morning as 28-year-old Phillip Spell of Richmond, Virginia.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m. police responded to the 800 block of Fremont Street for a possible gunshot victim. When police arrived, they found Spell suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Paramedics rushed him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but he died shortly after arriving.
