NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk police are calling for public help with investigative leads after a shooting turns deadly Thursday evening.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m., dispatchers were contacted about a possible gunshot victim in the 1000 block of E. Ocean View Avenue. Police responded to the scene and located a man on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Medics transported the victim from the scene to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police will not release the man’s identity until family members are properly notified.
The preliminary investigation has just begun, as police remain on scene and look for potential investigative leads.
