[ARCHIVED] Investigation continues after deadly police-involved shooting

NORFOLK, Va. - Detectives continue to investigate an early morning shooting that left one woman dead.

Police were on scene in the 9500 block of Shore Drive when they observed an altercation take place shortly before 1:20 this morning. A woman involved in the altercation brandished a weapon. Police challenged her and as a result of the encounter, she was shot by police.

The 25-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's name and identifying information will not be released until her family has been properly notified.

This remains an ongoing investigation and details surrounding the events that took place this morning are still being confirmed.
