[ARCHIVED] Two hospitalized following evening shooting

NORFOLK, Va. – Two people are battling life-threatening injuries following an evening shooting in Norfolk.

Police were called to the scene of a possible gunshot victim in the 5400 block of Ashby Street shortly before 10:00 p.m. this evening. When officers arrived to the scene, they located a man and a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics transported both victims to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what has been described as life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood for potential leads, and at this time, have not released any suspect description.

Community members can expect a large police presence into the midnight hours and are encouraged to provide information on what they may have seen or heard. One tip can make a difference.
