[ARCHIVED] Police search for leads in active homicide investigation

NORFOLK, Va. - Police are encouraging anyone who may have information about a double shooting last night to contact the Norfolk Crime Line.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. Monday evening, officers responded to the 5400 block of Ashby Street for reports of a possible gunshot victim. When police arrived, they discovered a man and a woman inside a vehicle. Both were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics immediately transported the victims to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead upon arrival. The woman remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The man has been identified as 33-year-old Jeffrey Stallings of Virginia Beach.

Detectives have remained at the scene since last night, scouring the neighborhood for possible leads. At this time, police have not released any suspect description.
