NORFOLK, Va. - Shortly after 7:05 p.m. Friday evening, April 22, 2016, officers were on scene of a barricade situation in the 1300 block of Church Street, when they heard several gunshots in the area of O'Keefe and Fremont Street.
When officers arrived at the intersection, they found 31-year-old Deandre Raynor of Norfolk lying on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Responding officers attempted to perform life saving measures on scene, but Raynor passed away after medics transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Through the police investigation, the suspect was positively identified as Lawrence Brown, 26, of the 1400 block of Proescher Street. Detectives secured warrants for 2nd degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and attempted malicious wounding.
Brown remains in the Norfolk City Jail, held without bond.
