NORFOLK, Va. – A man is suffering with life threatening injuries after being struck by a pick-up truck on South Newtown Road.
Around 9:30 a.m. Norfolk traffic fatality team responded to a call for a car accident involving a pedestrian. The driver of a Toyota pick-up truck was attempting to make a left turn from Curlew Avenue onto South Newtown Road when he struck a 65-year-old man who was in the roadway.
Paramedics initially took the pedestrian to Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital in serious but stable condition. He was later transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life threatening injuries.
There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident and no other injuries were reported. At this time, there are no charges pending.
