NORFOLK, Va. – The pedestrian struck by a pick-up truck yesterday morning, has succumbed to his injuries.
Around 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 police responded to a call for a car accident involving a pedestrian. The driver of a Toyota pick-up truck was attempting to make a left turn from Curlew Avenue onto South Newton Road when he struck a 65-year-old man who was in the roadway.
Paramedics rushed the pedestrian, Vernon Calvin Hall, Jr. of Norfolk, to Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital in serious condition. He was later transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Mr. Hall died this morning around 9:30 a.m. surrounded by loved ones.
There were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident and no other injuries were reported.
The Norfolk Police traffic fatality team is conducting the investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review.
