[ARCHIVED] Police make an arrest in the deadly shooting on Johnson Avenue

NORFOLK, Va. – Police have charged 40-year-old, Shelton Givens with the deadly shooting that occurred on Johnson Avenue.

Sunday afternoon at 2:43 p.m. dispatchers received a call to the 800 block of Johnson Avenue for a possible gunshot victim. When police arrived, they found 41-year-old Kenneth Britt, of Norfolk, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced Britt deceased at the scene.

Givens, who is also from Norfolk, is facing charges for 2nd Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He remains in the Norfolk City Jail, held without bond.

No other information is available for release at this time.
