[ARCHIVED] NPD Reassures Public Safety

Newsflash.jpg

NORFOLK, VA - Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Orlando and the families and friends of those killed or injured. We also want to thank the brave first responders, who undoubtedly, saved many lives following their reaction to the mass shooting. While there are no known threats to the City of Norfolk, the Norfolk Police Department is working closely with state and federal agencies to support the safety and welfare of our Norfolk community members.

Public safety will remain a top priority. The Norfolk Police Department is increasing police presence in places of high public concentration and areas of mass gathering. Regarding this weekend’s PrideFest celebrations, the Norfolk Police Department will continue to work closely with the LGBTQ community to support their safety. As we continue to build and foster our partnerships, our number one priority is ensuring that Norfolk remains a safe community to live, work, and play.

As always, we remind the public, “If you see something, say something!”
