[ARCHIVED] 4 arrested in Craig Street Shooting

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk police detectives have charged four people in relation to a shooting that occurred over the weekend.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. Saturday evening, Norfolk police responded to a call for a possible gunshot victim in the 700 block of Craig Street. When officers arrived, they located three adults and one 17-year-old suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victims sought treatment at area hospitals and their injuries have been described as non-life threatening.

Norfolk officers were in the area at the same time the shooting took place, and witnessed a vehicle speeding away from the possible scene. Officers gave chase and attempted to stop the car. The suspect vehicle tried to elude the traffic stop, but struck two occupied cars before coming to a stop. The driver and three passengers were taken into custody in the 1600 block of E. Indian River Road, following a brief foot pursuit.

Following the preliminary investigation, all occupants in the car have been charged with multiple felony offenses, directly related to the four gunshot victims found on Craig Street.

The following suspects have been charged:

(1) Michael Thomas, a 20-year-old male, last residing in the 2600 block of Annie Circle in Chesapeake
(2) Keshawn Brown, an 18-year-old male, last residing in the 700 block of Wiley Drive in Norfolk
(3) 16-year-old male (due to minor status, name not for public release)
(4) 16-year-old male (due to minor status, name not for public release)

The four defendants are being held in the Norfolk City Jail and/or Norfolk Juvenile Detention Center with the following charges:

(1) Malicious Wounding (four counts)
(2) Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling (one count)
(3) Felony Eluding (one count)
(4) Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (four counts)

In addition to the aforementioned charges, Keshawn Brown was also charged with one count of “Felony Hit and Run”.

NORFOLK, Va. – Police have confirmed four people were injured following an evening shooting incident.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. Saturday evening, Norfolk dispatchers were alerted to a possible gunshot victim in the 700 block of Craig Street. When police arrived, they discovered three adults and one 17-year-old suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

All victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives remain in the area, canvassing the neighborhood for potential leads.
