[ARCHIVED] Norfolk Police: "Safety remains top priority for weekend celebrations"

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Police Department is planning for neighborhood gatherings over the Fourth of July weekend. As in years past, and consistent with planning for any holiday event, the Norfolk Police Department has been working closely with local, state and federal partners to ensure the safety and overall success of weekend celebrations.

The Norfolk Police Department will continue to deploy personnel and public safety resources appropriately and will maintain constant communication efforts with law enforcement partners. This will ensure real-time information can be gathered, shared, and acted upon if needed.

Safeguarding our communities is our top priority. Community members are asked to join the efforts of public safety and report anything they believe is suspicious. As such, we want to remind everyone that if they “see something, say something” to law enforcement.

The Norfolk Police Department looks forward to celebrating our nation’s independence this weekend, and we wish you all a safe and Happy 4th of July!
