[ARCHIVED] Man dead, another hospitalized following morning shooting

NORFOLK, Va. – Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that left a man dead and another hospitalized.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, emergency dispatchers were contacted about a possible gunshot victim in the 1100 block of Church Street. When police responded to the scene, they discovered a man inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medics transported the man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

During the course of the preliminary investigation, police learned of another gunshot victim involved in the incident. The second victim, an adult male, was transported by a third party to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police will not release the deceased victim’s name until his family or next of kin has been properly notified.
