[ARCHIVED] Police identify man fatally shot on Church Street

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk Police have confirmed the man found shot to death on Saturday Morning as 22-year-old Daquan Martin of Suffolk.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, July 2, 2016, emergency dispatchers were contacted about a possible gunshot victim in the 1100 block of Church Street. When police responded to the scene, they discovered Martin inside a vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Medics transported Martin to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

During the course of the preliminary investigation, police learned of another gunshot victim involved in the incident. The second victim, a 21-year-old man, was transported by a third party to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
