[ARCHIVED] Police reclassify death as a homicide

NORFOLK, Va. – Detectives have now reclassified a death investigation as a homicide after a body was found in the Lafayette Park Monday morning.

Around 9:20 a.m., police were called to the 3500 block of Granby Street for a man lying on the ground unconscious and not breathing. When police arrived, they discovered the man with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedic’s pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Detectives have classified this investigation homicide, and will not release man’s identity until a proper next of kin notification is made.
