NORFOLK, Va. – Detectives arrested a Norfolk man Tuesday afternoon in connection with the homicide that occurred on Avenue H Monday morning.
Grenah E. Garnett was arrested in Norfolk Tuesday afternoon, a day after the homicide, without incident.

On Monday, August 22, officers responded to a shooting along Avenue H, and found 50-year-old Andre Vallentine suffering from gunshot wounds.
Valentine was pronounced dead at the scene. Garnett, 36, of the 7700 block of Major Avenue, was identified as the suspect during the course of the investigation.
Garnett is currently being held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond. He has been charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and grand larceny.
