NORFOLK, Va. – Two men are behind bars after being charged in the 2015 shooting death of a Norfolk man.

Detectives say 25-year-old Felix Smallwood was found lying outside a residence in the 700 block of Kimball Terrace on May 24, 2015. Felix was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

Over one year later, the Norfolk Police Department’s Cold Case Unit continued to investigate the circumstances behind Felix’s death. Their tenacity and dedication paid off when the detectives secured felony charges against two Norfolk men earlier this week.

Detectives charged 21-year-old Rakim Nottingham of the 2900 block of Kimball Terrace and 22-year-old Dashawn Medley of the 1200 block of Reservoir Avenue with 2nd Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Both men were taken into custody without incident.

Rakim Nottingham is currently being held in the City of Virginia Beach and Dashawn Medley is being detained in the Norfolk City Jail. Both men are held without bond.
