[ARCHIVED] Man dies following shooting on Granby Street in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police are investigating a deadly shooting Monday morning outside of the Bay Food Market off Granby Street.

Police responded to the Market in the 2700 block of Granby Street Monday morning around 8:15 for a person who had been shot. When police arrived they located a man outside the front doors of the Market suffering from a gunshot wound.  

The man was quickly taken to the hospital by paramedics, but later died from his injuries. His name will not be released until his family has been notified. 

Police detained a 30-year-old man at the scene.  He is currently being questioned by detectives at the police operations center. 

Preliminary investigation reveals both men were involved in an altercation inside the Market prior to the shooting. 

As both men were exiting the Market, the shooting occurred.
