[ARCHIVED] Man arrested following deadly shooting on Granby Street

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk Police are investigating a shooting outside a convenience Store on Granby Street that has left one man dead, and other in jail.

The shooting occurred outside the Bay Food Market located at 2707 Granby Street around 8:15 Monday morning.  Police responded to the Market after receiving reports of a person who had been shot.

When police arrived, they located 38-year-old Michael Barnes suffering from multiple gunshots wounds.  Paramedics rushed Barnes to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

Police arrested Leonard Bullock, 29, of Norfolk at the scene.  Bullock has been charged with 2nd degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Bullock is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.

The investigation reveals both men were involved in an altercation inside the Market prior to the shooting.  As the altercation continued at the front door, Bullock reportedly shot Barnes.
