NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk detectives are investigating a shooting Saturday night that occurred inside a Norfolk McDonald's.

Around 11:30 p.m. police were called to the McDonald's located at 745 Newtown Road for a shooting.  Once police arrived they found a man in his twenties inside the restaurant suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly taken by paramedics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries; however, he is expected to recover.

The investigation reveals the man and another man were involved in a verbal argument when the shot was fired. The shooting suspect then fled the location prior to police arrival. He has been described as a black man wearing a black shirt and brown pants.

There were no other injuries reported.

"We take the safety of our employees and customers very seriously and are working with the proper authorities to assist in their investigation," said the Newlands Management Corporation, a local McDonald's franchise organization.

As police continue to investigate this shooting, they encourage anyone with information to call the Norfolk Crime Line at 1(888) LOCK-U-UP.
