[ARCHIVED] Man taken into custody after shooting on La Valette Avenue

NORFOLK, Va. - (NPD) The man involved in the deadly shooting on La Valette Avenue is in custody.

On Tuesday, December 13, 2016 shortly before 4:00 p.m. police responded to the 100 block of La Valette Avenue for a possible gunshot victim. When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man was transported by paramedics to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died from his injuries. He has been identified as 25-year-old Travis James Burke, a resident of Norfolk.

The suspect was immediately identified and taken into custody without incident. 

The circumstances surrounding this incident are still in the preliminary stages.
