[ARCHIVED] Man shot during a home invasion

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk detectives have charged a Norfolk man with armed burglary following a shooting on Victory Drive early Wednesday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m., police were called to a residence in the 7900 block of Victory Drive for a person who had been shot. When emergency crews arrived, they found two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and should make a full recover.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Robert Hicks, 22, forcibly entered the residence. Once inside, Hicks and a 23-year-old man, who was inside the home, exchanged gunfire. Both men were shot during the incident.

There were no other injuries reported.
