[ARCHIVED] Police identify woman killed in midnight shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - Norfolk police have positively identified the woman killed in Wednesday night's shooting incident.

33-year-old Latoya S. Davis was pronounced dead at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters at approximately 11:30 p.m. after suffering an apparent gunshot wound.  Detectives say Davis was likely shot in the 2300 block of Barre Street before being transported to CHKD by a third party.

Davis was a Norfolk resident who lived in the 1300 block of E. Princess Anne Road.

Detectives have not released any suspect description and encourage anyone with information about this active homicide investigation to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police detectives continue their search for evidence after a woman was shot and killed late last evening.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night, authorities at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters contacted emergency dispatchers.  CHKD personnel stated a woman came into the emergency room at 601 Children’s Lane suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The woman was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.

Police located what appears to be a crime scene in the 2300 block of Barre Street, indicating the incident may have occurred in Norfolk.  Detectives classified the case as an active homicide investigation.

The woman’s identification will be withheld until her next of kin are properly notified.

Detectives have not released any suspect description and encourage anyone with information about this homicide to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
