NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Detectives have positively identified the man killed in Sunday evening’s quadruple shooting incident.

Police confirm 28-year-old Thomas Leroy Hicks of Norfolk was in a vehicle near the intersection of Church Street and E. Princess Anne Road, when gunshots were exchanged between his vehicle and several others shortly before 7:45 pm.  Hicks’ car then swerved off the roadway and struck an apartment complex near the intersection.   First responders confirmed Hicks suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hicks’ next of kin was notified of his passing and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will provide the exact cause of death.

Three others were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital following the shooting.  One woman remains hospitalized in critical condition with a life-threatening gunshot wound.  Another woman and a teenaged girl were released from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  All are believed to have been inside vehicles exchanging gunfire and were not bystanders.

Information gathered during the preliminary investigation suggests this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public safety.

Police have not released any suspect description and encourage anyone who may have information about this active homicide investigation to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
