NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police arrested a 60-year-old man suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo bank minutes after the robbery occurred Thursday afternoon.
Around 3:50 p.m., police responded to the bank located at 440 Monticello Avenue for a robbery that just occurred. A teller advised responding officers that a man walked into the bank and demanded money. The teller complied, and the man ran out.
As officers responded to the bank to receive suspect information, other officers quickly saturated the surrounding area and located the suspect near Church Street and Princess Anne Road.
Jimmy E. Simons, of the 600 of E. Princess Anne Road, was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with robbery, and is currently in the Norfolk City Jail held with no bond.
There were no injuries reported.
