[ARCHIVED] Four in custody following a police pursuit

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - Norfolk police have four people in custody following a police pursuit through Norfolk and Chesapeake Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 09:30 a.m., Norfolk Police Fugitive Squad along with the U.S. Marshals Task Force observed a vehicle at the intersection of Park and Brambleton Avenue occupied by 5 people who were identified as armed shooting suspects in a previous incident.

Officers attempted a traffic stop on the blue Mazda sedan; however, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed.

Police followed the vehicle into the City of Chesapeake, where Chesapeake Police took over the pursuit in the 900 block of Providence Road.

The vehicle refused to stop for Chesapeake officers, and attempted to make a left turn onto Rock Creek Road, where the driver lost control, left the roadway, and struck an unoccupied car parked in a driveway.

All five people then ran from the scene. Officers from both police departments have located four of the suspects, and are searching the immediate area for the fifth.

Charges are pending following the completion of the preliminary investigation.

There were no injuries reported.
