[ARCHIVED] Morning death classified as active homicide


NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk police detectives are canvassing the area for leads after a man was pronounced dead early Sunday morning.

Shortly after 5:00 a.m., police and paramedics were called to the 1500 block of Dungee Street for an injured person.  Officers located a man inside a residence suffering from significant injuries.  Medics transported the injured man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives have classified the death as an active homicide investigation.

Once the deceased is positively identified and his next of kin notified, the man’s name will be disseminated publicly.
