[ARCHIVED] Police asking public’s assistance in locating a malicious wounding suspect


NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) - Norfolk Police are looking for a 35-year-old man wanted for a shooting that occurred on March 30, 2017 that left a 13-year-old boy injured.

Detective are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Ayenda Hodges, 35, (pictured above) who is wanted for malicious wounding, use of a firearm in connection with a felony, reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm in public within 1000 feet of a school.

Investigators say that on March 30, 2017 around 11 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Goff Street for a gunshot disturbance.  When police arrived, they located a 13-year-old boy inside his room suffering from a gunshot wound.  The boy was quickly taken to the Children’s Hospital for The King’s Daughters for treatment, and has since recovered.

The investigation has revealed that the child was inside his home when Hodges was shooting a gun outside in the parking lot adjacent to the residence.

Detectives are asking the public’s assistance in located Ayenda Hodges. If anyone knows where he is located, they are encouraged to call either the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP, or call 9-1-1.
