[ARCHIVED] Man charged for shooting a man inside a Norfolk McDonald’s

NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk detectives have formally charged a man with injuring another man inside a local McDonald’s Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. inside the McDonald’s located at 2328 E. Princess Anne Road.  When police arrived, they found a 38-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, and is expected to be okay.

At the scene, police detained Stephan Hayes, 53, of the 2000 block of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard.  

Wednesday afternoon, Hayes was formally charged by detectives with malicious wounding, and use of a firearm.  Hayes is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail.

"We take the safety of our employees and customers very seriously and are working with the proper authorities to assist in their investigation," said the JS&J Restaurants Inc, a local McDonald's franchise organization.

There were no other injuries reported.
