[ARCHIVED] Norfolk police officer involved in deadly shooting

NORFOLK, Va (NPD) - Norfolk police confirm an officer-involved shooting incident occurred Monday evening leaving one woman dead and a man in critical condition.

At approximately 7:00 Monday evening, Norfolk police responded to Admiral Taussig Boulevard and Hammond Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. 

While officers were on scene of the accident, an adult woman armed with a firearm shot an adult man. 

An officer engaged the woman and returned fire. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Virginia State Police are investigating the incident.

The officers involved in the shooting incident have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
